Railways - in particular the Great Western Railway - played an important pard in the history of Carmarthenshire and there are two tourism railways in the county which give a reminder what it was like to travel by train in times gone past.

Carmarthenshire has two tourism railways which are being kept running by volunteers - the Gwili Railway at Bronwydd, a restored standard gauge steam line running through the Gwili Valley, and the Teifi Valley Railway at Henllan, a narrow gauge railway with steam and diesel locomotives.
